CPHR CPD Hours: 1.5
The Government of Canada launched its Global Skills Strategy ("GSS") on June 12, 2017 to facilitate Canadian businesses access to skilled talent from around the world in a timely manner. The Global Skills Strategy forms part of Canada's Innovation Agenda and Economic Growth Plan. The GSS introduced faster work permit processing for certain types of skilled temporary foreign workers and a new work permit exemption for short duration work. This session will provide participants with an overview of the four pillars of the GSS and the facilitated measures now available for bringing specialized foreign talent to Canada.
This session will cover:
- The circumstances under which foreign nationals are eligible to work in Canada without a work permit under the new short-term work permit exemption.
- When do new hires qualify for two-week work permit application processing under Global Skills Strategy?
- How can the Global Talent Stream benefit high growth employers seeking to attract unique specialized talent?
- What is a Labour Market Benefit Plan and when is it required?
- Learn about the Dedicated Service Channel available to employers bringing significant investment to Canada.
